Teach your children how to think- not what to think!

All parents dream of respectful, responsible kids who make wise choices.  We know how important it is for our kids to stand up to peer pressure and cope well with the challenges presented by today's pop culture.

We want our kids to be independent leaders who can think for themselves, right? But how do we encourage these important life skills without inviting rebellion and disrespect into our own homes?

The parenting styles that our parents used don't work so well on today's kids. Punishment, rewards and bribes, praise, lectures, threats and shows of anger can backfire. So then what else is there? There's Love and Logic!

So, what is Love and Logic? As America's Parenting Experts™, The Love and Logic Institute has been teaching parents and educators worldwide how to raise respectful, responsible, and happy kids since 1977. That's over thirty years of experience working with families!

How can you learn Love and Logic? You can watch Love and Logic on PBS, tune into their radio show, read a book or get the personal touch at a class.
As an author and certified facilitator, Lisa C. Greene is a Love and Logic expert. She is also a parent coach and (most importantly) MOM!

Lisa has been well-trained in the nuances of Love and Logic by Foster W. Cline MD.  Since 2004, she has been working with Dr. Cline, a well-known child psychiatrist and co-founder with Jim Fay of the Love and Logic Institute.

Together, Lisa and Dr. Cline have written Love and Logic's newest book Parenting Children with Health Issues which teaches parents and professionals how to apply Love and Logic concepts to raising children with chronic illness, medical conditions, and special healthcare needs.

Dr. Cline says: “Coping with adversity lays the foundation for almost all true greatness. With a few simple tools, parents can encourage their special needs children to become the heroes they are destined to be.”

Lisa has plenty of first-hand experience with parenting children with health issues because her two children have cystic fibrosis (CF). "So, what is CF?" In Lisa's words:

"Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that causes the mucous in the lungs to become thick and sticky which causes lung infections and scar tissue which can lead to lung failure. CF can also impact other organs of the body such as the liver, pancreas and reproductive system. The median life-expectancy is currently about 37 years of age and climbing quickly due to great advances in medical technology.

There is lots of medical care involved with CF and this is what gives us great hope for a better life for our loved ones with CF. We know more about CF each year. In the meantime, we take each day at a time and do our best to make it a good one.  Every day is a gift."
